Solar Is the world’s fastest-growing energy source. In 2020, energy generation for power plants reached over 33% and in 2021 Europe broke its own solar PV installation record, making it the best year in European solar history.
With significant technological advances reducing the cost of solar energy by up to 90% in comparison to 2009 levels, solar has evolved into becoming the most affordable source of energy available today. Even conservative estimates forecast that solar energy will become Europe’s dominant energy source by 2050.
Solar energy produces 96% fewer carbon emissions than coal and 93% less GHG emissions than gas. In solar projects, more jobs are created during the construction phase in comparison to any other energy industry. Solar growth can feasibly take on all workers from former coal-dependent employment, ensuring no communities are left behind in the energy transition.
